Remove Ashdown Public School Mask Mandate

On August 25th 2021, after opening the school with zero mandates the Ashdown School Board made the decision to go back on their word and impose mandates on the staff and students in the Ashdown Public Schools due to an influx on cases within the district. Prior to this mandate, the majority of students and staff made the decison for themselves NOT to wear masks.

Parents were told this wouldn't be permanent, and would be watched on a weekly basis and adjusted according to the active cases. In the last two months the active cases in Little River County have hardly surpassed 20 on any given day. Yet, parents haven't heard a single update about the mask mandate, and we are nearly three months into the mandate. That is 12 weeks with no updates, we were told we would be getting.

Multiple surrounding school districts have done school all year without imposing mandates, and are doing just fine. If we do not stand together right now and take a stand for our children this will continue to happen. Our children deserve to attend school free of restraint. Parents have the right to make decisons for the best interest of their child(ren). Masks are worn while at school, but not at school functions, out in public, Walmart, family gatherings ect. but, they are expected to sit in the class room muzzled all day. This is no more then a power trip, and enough is enough, LET THEM BREATH.
